It’s official! I think I must have been a cat in another life, because I love shiny things! All kidding aside, I really am drawn to reflective objects like those starburst mirrors I like to swoon over. This is what lead me to my latest DIY. Back when my daughter was much younger, we had this tradition of going out in our neighborhood and picking pinecones. I say picking, but actually, we would be picking them up. We live in San Fernando Valley in California and there seem to be conifers all around us. This makes for easy pickings for pinecone hunters like us. We especially liked finding the oversized ones or even wee tiny little ones. After coming home with what seemed like bushels, we would pinecones to decorate our house both indoors and out.
That was many years ago and even though my daughter is all grown up now, I still use pinecones to decorate at Christmas time. So now that we are officially in the Holiday season, I thought I would share with you some ideas for decorating your home with the simple pinecone. Keep reading for 10 Simple ways to use pinecones to decorate your home for Christmas.
Have you ever noticed that you have an affinity for something without even really knowing it? Well, it seems that I feel some kinda way about bamboo. A quick scan of just my living room and you will notice quite a few of injections of bamboo. So I thought I would do a post about using bamboo in room design.
Check out this image I saw on Instagram posted by Traditional Home. Do you love it?! I especially love the Faux Zebra print rug. You know what I thought right? I bet that would be easy to recreate this look and make a DIY Zebra Rug.
So check this out, somebody already did an awesome DIY Zebra Rug video. Yea!!! Hey, why reinvent the wheel! I would just replace the brown/black paint with a silver, gunmetal or even a metallic gold paint. Or how about rose-gold?
I get so many compliments on the floor lamp in my living room. One of the biggest compliments I get is whenever I see my lamp in designs featured in magazines or on design shows. I love it too! I actually put my own personal stamp on my lamp when I decided the lamp needed a colored shade. Instead of painting the lampshade, I wrapped it with ribbon. A ribbon wrapped lampshade is a simple option for those plain ole white shades. It also allowed me to inject color into the room. This one was easy guys. You can do this one in an afternoon.
