The Overdyed Rug

I really love statement pieces.  You know those individual purchases that make up your own unique style. Those things that you buy and are in love with for years to come.  That’s how it was for my Overdyed Rug.  Here is the quest for what I consider to be the jewel of my living room; my Overdyed Rug.

It’s How Much?

b1fnbmmbbfs-_sl1500_I saw an overdyed rug on Pinterest a while ago and fell in love. It was one of those things that you decide you just have to have? Well, my desire quickly turned into discouragement when I saw the price tag of an overdyed rug.  This one is over $2000!

These rugs are even expensive of Etsy!

I mean there’s just no way that I could justify the purchase of a rug for that price. Still determined to get my precious rug I did some research.

A Little More Affordable

ZGallarie Amarano Rug

I found a much more reasonably priced rug at ZGallerie but it still was a pretty penny.

This one I spotted at ZGallerie, called Amarano, didn’t make me feel any better either.  It came in at just under $500.00!

Then guess what? I found an even better deal!

Finally a Deal!

My Budget Option

I found this rug that wound up being nearly $300 less (when you factor in shipping).  Which is amazing for this 8′ x 10′ rug.

Say what? Yep, $300 less.

OK, now I can afford it.  Even better this rug was actually an indoor outdoor rug. What does that mean? It means easy care yes it does.

I love my rug! I love the deal I got even more!!!

Will the real rug step up?

Here is a side-by-side of the rugs.  Look how close the budget option is to the high-end rugs.  I’d say I did pretty well, wouldn’t you?

DIY Option

Hey and just in case the $200 still  isn’t quite in your budget right now check this out I actually found a DIY that shows you how to dye a rug yourself.  You use good ole Rit Dye (lots of it).

This Week's Coupon at Michaels.com

This might be a really good option for a thrift store find. It might even work for a rug that has a small stain that you can’t get out.

What do you think?  Do you love my rug?  It’s to dye for (sorry couldn’t help myself)!

Do you have a designer dupe? Knock off.  It would actually make my day if you would tell me about it.  Leave me a comment and pictures below.

  1. This is such a fabulous idea. I’ve found rugs that I love but they are never the right color for my living room! I will definitely be doing this before I have family over for the holidays.
